President Obama's new reading and math standards

President Obama proposes new reading and math standards in a proposed change ti the No Child Left Behind law. This new proposal requires states to adopt College and career ready standards in reading and math. Before under the original law, states can decide what they think is challenging while some standards in states became as rigourous as the standards in countries like Japan and some states giving their kids low standards which is mediocre expectations for the students. As the White House said,  said, Because economic progress and educational achievement go hand in hand, educating every American student to graduate prepared for college and success in a new work force is a national imperative.” They go on to say, “Meeting this challenge requires that state standards reflect a level of teaching and learning needed for students to graduate ready for success in college and careers.”To view his proposal to the change in the no child left behind act click "here"  To view the article click "here".

The Saints are Marching in (Weekend post)

On February 7th, the Super Bowl came on channel 2 from 2 o clock to 10 o clock at night. The super bowl featured many things like funny advertisements and halftime entertainment. The commercials were very expensive because you had to pay 3 million dollars for your commercial to air during the Super Bowl Commercials. But, the most of all was action packed football fun. The Saints defeated the Colts with a score of 31-17. Many fans were excited to see the underdogs win this Super Bowl since the Saints went through many tribulations in New Orleans.
